About the Tennis-a-thon Challenge
Join Ryan Peniston, professional British tennis player, and hundreds of others taking on the Tennis-a-thon Challenge between July - September for Young Lives vs Cancer to raise funds to support children and young people with cancer.
The challenge is simple. Get creative and organise a 12 hour tennis marathon, charity tournament, a play-and-pay event, or even a rally challenge. It's Your Game - Your Way.
Pick your date, location and how you want to play. Whether it’s at your tennis club, local court, community centre or even your garden, the ball is in your court!
Whether you're an ace on the court or just picking up a racket for the first time, every serve, every volley, and every rally will help make a difference in the lives of children and young people with cancer.

Ryan Peniston - Professional British Tennis Player
"I’m thrilled to be supporting Young Lives vs Cancer and their Tennis-a-thon challenge. As a cancer survivor myself, I know firsthand the challenges that young people with cancer and their families face. At just one year old, I was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. After surgery and chemotherapy, I overcame my illness, but the treatment left its mark. I had to undergo further surgeries and deal with long-term side effects. Despite these challenges, I found my passion in tennis, which became a source of strength and motivation.
That’s why I’m so passionate about this cause and this challenge. Young Lives vs Cancer provide vital support to children and young people during their cancer journey, helping them and their families cope with the emotional and financial strain.
This summer, I’ll be taking part in the Tennis-a-thon, a fantastic fundraising event where we rally together to play tennis and raise money for this incredible charity. Will you join me in this challenge? Whether you're a seasoned player or just picking up a racket for the first time, every serve, every volley, and every rally will help make a difference in the lives of children and young people with cancer."

Why your support matters - make a difference this summer
Children and young people with cancer are facing a long, exhausting summer with days spent many miles from home.
This summer, children, young people and families going through cancer treatment will need to make early morning journeys to hospital and weary drives home. Parents will sleep in uncomfortable hospital chairs and spend hours worrying about the uncontrollable costs of hotels, petrol and food. Meanwhile, siblings will be left at home - their family separated at the most worrying time.
But your support changes everything.
It means the whole family can stay in our welcoming Homes from Home, close to specialist childhood cancer treatment centres. For families, it’s more than a free place to stay. It’s a place that feels like home. It’s having the time for a home-cooked meal together or a cuddle with a bedtime story. But most of all, when everything else is uncertain, it’s a chance to just be together.
Cancer doesn’t have to mean families are torn apart. That special moments are lost. You can keep families together this summer.
