About Challenge 80
This September, join thousands of others who are taking on Challenge 80 for Young Lives vs Cancer during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – they are getting active and raising vital funds to support children and young people with cancer.
The challenge is simple – take on 80 miles anyway you want between 1 – 31 September, Walk, run, cycle or swim – every mile counts.
This is your challenge – your way.
Why your support matters this Childhood Cancer Awareness month
80 miles may not seem like a long way. But when your child is sick in the back seat, the petrol light is on red because you can’t afford to put any more in the tank and you’re making the gruelling journey to hospital so your child can receive life-saving cancer treatment, every single mile is unbearable.
But 80 miles is the average journey that a family facing cancer has to travel from home to a specialist treatment centre. And now, with the rise in cost of living, families are struggling more than ever before to find the money to make the journey. Then there’s the parking payments, overnight stays and finding food, all while income is reduced. Because working full time and looking after your child with cancer is almost impossible.
That’s why this September, we’re asking you to take on Challenge 80. Conquer 80 miles anyway you like throughout the month and support families facing cancer. You’ll be making a huge difference with your miles.
By joining Team Young Lives this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, you will be helping families with grants so that they can fill up the car with petrol and buy food to get by. You will be supporting families with overnight stays by providing them with a comfortable room for free in one of our Homes from Home or you’ll be paying for a social worker, to be by their side every step of the way.
Take on Challenge 80 now and help families face the hardest journey.
