Writtle Tennis Club

Tennis-a-thon 2025

Revised Plan

The Event will run from 08.00 until 20.00 on Sunday 31st August, with a focus being on keeping at least one court active for the entire 12 hours. We already have a number of participants but would welcome as many of you as possible to get involved at some point in the day, if you are able to commit to a period of time then please reach out and confirm, but if not feel free to pop along on the day when you are able.

We are raising money for an amazing charity - Young Lives versus Cancer - we have already seen some really generous donations coming in and we are hoping this will continue for such a great cause. Whether you are coming along on the 31st or not if you'd like to donate then please do so through the following link:

The format of the day has been kept open - there will be a fun tournament running between 10 and 12 (if you'd like to take part in this please come along at least 15 mins in advance). For the rest of the day we have kept the schedule fairly open, there will be some fun challenges that people can come along and try out and we will keep a record of the best scores (with some prizes for the winners) including:

Longest rally
Fastest Serve
Serving accuracy
Coaches challenge
Team games (triples / jailbreak)

Members are encouraged to also bring along friends and family who would like to get involved, welcome throughout the afternoon, from midday onwards.

Refreshments will be provided on the day, please feel free to bring along a cake or some snacks too.

The Plan

We’re excited to announce early plans for a 12-hour Charity Tennis-a-thon on 31st August in support of Young Lives vs Cancer at Writtle Tennis Club.

The event will run from approximately 8am to 8pm, and while the full programme is still being finalised, here’s a preview of what we’re planning:

🎾 Fast 4 Doubles Tournament (10am start): Randomly paired partners for some friendly but competitive fun, if numbers allow.
🎾 Serving Accuracy: Hit targets in the service box
🎾 Maximum Rally Challenge – How long can you keep the ball in play?
🎾 Open Court Time for friends and family to have a hit (TBC)
🎾 A great chance to complete your club tournament matches while supporting a great cause!

We're taking on the Tennis-a-thon Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer.
