Raising funds for Young Lives vs Cancer

If someone had told me a few months ago I’d be running 50 miles in a single month, I would have laughed (and probably pulled a muscle just thinking about it). I’m not a runner. In fact, my idea of endurance is making it through bedtime stories without falling asleep before the kids. But here I am, lacing up my trainers and taking on my biggest challenge yet—for a cause that means the world to me.

Why I'm Doing This

I’m running 50 miles throughout June to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer. As a parent of two amazing children, I can’t begin to imagine the fear, heartbreak, and disruption that comes with a cancer diagnosis in a young person’s life. These families are thrown into the unknown, and Young Lives vs Cancer steps in to offer not just emotional support, but real, practical help—something every family deserves but not all can access on their own.

I know how lucky I am. And I want to do something—anything—to help families who aren’t so fortunate.

This Is Way Out of My Comfort Zone

I’ve done some charity fundraising before, but nothing this extreme. I’m not a natural runner. So taking on 50 miles (yes, fifty) is a big deal. It's going to be sweat, sore legs, and probably a few blisters… but every step is worth it if it helps someone else.

To give myself half a chance of making it to the end of June without collapsing, I’ve started doing a bit of training already. I won’t lie—it’s been tough, especially with the heat we’ve had recently. But weirdly, it’s also been rewarding. There’s something about pushing through that first mile when you’d rather be on the sofa that makes you feel like you're doing something that matters.

The Goal: £150 (and Maybe More?)

I’ve set a goal to raise £150, and every penny will go directly to Young Lives vs Cancer. Whether it’s £2, £10, or just sharing my page with someone who might be able to help, I’m truly grateful for any support. It’s amazing how even small donations can add up to something life-changing for these families.
