Want to join us in supporting a good cause? We're taking on the Kid's Summer Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.

Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. Make a donation and show your support today.

  • £15 could go towards a grant to cover travel costs for long journeys to live saving treatment
  • £26 could pay for an hour with a Young Lives vs Cancer Specialist Social Worker. They help families understand and cope with the emotional, practical and financial effects of cancer.
  • £70 could pay for a night in a Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home, a free place for families to stay close to specialist hospitals when their child is going through treatment, keeping families together

Join me in supporting a good cause, your contribution will make a big impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.

Aneira

Saturday 23rd Aug
At the end of May after some blood tests ordered by the GP Aneira was asked to come into the hospital immediately to see a paediatrician. They were concerned as most of her lymph nodes were (and still are) enlarged and she had a very large belly.  Initially they told us she had a growth around 12cm in her abdomen and admitted her into the children’s ward and ordered an immediate x-ray and ultrasound. This showed that the growth was actually a dangerously large spleen.  We were sent home a couple of days later to shower and re pack for a stay on the paediatric oncology ward in Cardiff. After a bone marrow and lymph node biopsy and even more blood tests we were hugely relieved that she wasn’t diagnosed with cancer. Months later we still don’t have a diagnosis for Aneira. However, the time we  admitted to the oncology ward showed us the courage shown by children and their families when dealing with every families worst nightmare. We still make regular visits to the oncology ward for more tests and everyone there is so welcoming and supportive.  If some walking can raise money to take a tiny step towards making paediatric oncology wards obsolete. Thank you all for your donations!
