We're taking on the Kid's Summer Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer, running one mile a day throughout August

From the little runner himself:

"One of my classmates had cancer and when I talked to him, I found out how much he went through in his life. I want every kid who gets cancer to be able to get help and start living a good life."

Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. Make a donation and show your support today. Every bit helps, whether it's £5 or more. Examples of how donations are used:

£15 could go towards a grant to cover travel costs for long journeys to live saving treatment
£26 could pay for an hour with a Young Lives vs Cancer Specialist Social Worker. They help families understand and cope with the emotional, practical and financial effects of cancer.

Hector has nearly finished the challenge. He has run a mile most days, but on the occasion where it hasn't happened (injury/ me being away/logistics), he has covered extra miles in other ways, e.g. cycling, hiking, paddle boarding. Altogether we've counted 49 miles dedicated to this challenge. So, well over the 31 mile target, and now he just needs £25 to beat the money target:

Onwards and upwards

Thursday 21st Aug

Hector has reached his original target of £100 five times over, and continues to move the goal posts. He's found that the challenge is not in the 1 mile itself (he's lucky to be fit and athletic), it's in the mental endurance - the will to keep doing it day after day. To keep going, he remembers the poorly children who would give anything to be able to put one foot in front of the other and run a mile. Let's see if we can hit the new target and help the charity even more!
