I'm taking on 10,000 steps every day in February for Young Lives vs Cancer.

This February, I’m taking on a personal challenge to give back to a charity that has meant so much to my family — Young Lives vs Cancer.

As some of you will know, in 2024, my son Toby was diagnosed with a very rare cancer. His journey hasn’t been an easy one, and to save his life he had to have his leg amputated. It was a time that completely changed our lives.

Throughout everything, Young Lives vs Cancer were there for us. They supported us financially when things felt overwhelming, and they offered constant guidance, kindness, and reassurance when we needed it most. Even now, they continue to be there for us whenever we need support for Toby — and that ongoing care means more than I can ever say.

So, this is my way of saying thank you.

I’ll be walking 10,000 steps every single day in February. For some people that might sound really easy, but for me it’s a real challenge on certain days — and that’s exactly why it matters. Every step is for Toby, and for every other child and family facing cancer.

Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day, 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news that they have cancer. 

Just a £26 donation could fund an hour of support from a Young Lives vs Cancer specialist social worker, ensuring children, young people and families always have someone by their side throughout their cancer journey.

£70 could pay for a night in a Young Lives vs Cancer Home from Home, a free place for families to stay close to specialist hospitals when their child is going through treatment, keeping families together.
