I'm taking on the Kid's Summer Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer. From the 1st to the 31st August, everyday I will be covering at least 1 mile doing different activities.

Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm taking on the Kid's Summer Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £1 or £50. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.

Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. Make a donation and show your support today.

  • £15 could go towards a grant to cover travel costs for long journeys to live saving treatment
  • £26 could pay for an hour with a Young Lives vs Cancer Specialist Social Worker. They help families understand and cope with the emotional, practical and financial effects of cancer.
  • £70 could pay for a night in a Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home, a free place for families to stay close to specialist hospitals when their child is going through treatment, keeping families together

Join me in supporting a good cause, your contribution will make a big impact, whether you donate £1 or £50. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.

Day 30

Sunday 31st Aug
OllieRoy walked around the block at his dad's today to get 1mile in. This is the photo he sent me. He said it was fun and calming.

Day 29

Friday 29th Aug
OllieRoy sent me this photo and his mile update. He's having fun glamping for the night.

Day 28

Thursday 28th Aug
More school uniform shopping and 2.56 miles covered today. OllieRoy likes going to different fast food restaurants so we tried Wendy's in Lincoln today. Safe to say, it was a hit.

Day 27

Wednesday 27th Aug
Exactly 1 mile today! OllieRoy took the yo-yo he won with tickets from the arcade last week to make it fun. While on the walk he noticed he was on exactly 1 mile so stopped the tracking.

Day 26

Tuesday 26th Aug
We went for a walk into town this morning to pick up some school supples then magnet fishing this evening. OllieRoy didn't 'catch' anything but hes hopeful for the next time.

Day 25

Monday 25th Aug
A lovely walk and chat this evening. As the challange comes closer to the end, so does the summer, but that means the begining of a new and exciting chapter for OllieRoy starting high school next week.

Day 24

Sunday 24th Aug
A later walk today due to not beeing together all day. We were able to hear a band playing in town for our whole walk which was nice.

Day 23

Saturday 23rd Aug
OllieRoys had a fun day out with his family walking into town to have a look at the fun things the council have put on. He said he had fun playing mini golf.

Day 22

Friday 22nd Aug
I think this is his shortest walk yet. After a long day traveling i suggested an evening walk to get fish and chips. I had to put the photo on sideways as it wouldn't show the whole photo.

Day 21

Thursday 21st Aug
Shopping for school shoes in Norwich today and OllieRoy got 2.39 miles in with a game of bowling, crazy golf and making his own fun jumping over obstacles in the city.

Day 20

Wednesday 20th Aug
Out with Grandad for another walk. OllieRoy had great fun running through the parsnip field while its being irrigated to get his mile in today.

Day 19

Tuesday 19th Aug
Another walk with Grandad to get his mile in this evening. It's been lovely to see family and friends getting involved and joining him on his mile.

Day 18

Monday 18th Aug
OllieRoy enjoyed a fun day with his cousin at Ickworth house in Suffolk. He got 3miles in carrying her round the grounds and playing football.

Day 17

Sunday 17th Aug
We are visiting OllieRoys Grandad this week. They enjoyed a walk round the block together to get his mile in. They went over the railway track, through a parsnip field and played at the park.

Day 16

Saturday 16th Aug
2.82 miles covered today with a visit to the Rec (recreation ground) with his friend. Again wearing his YLvC tshirt. I was a bit worried he wouldn't like it but he often choses to wear it. Nobody has stopped him and asked him about why hes wearing it yet but hopefully its raising awareness when hes out and about 🤞🏼

Day 15

Friday 15th Aug
Wow how have we got to day 15 already! OllieRoy had a chilled day gaming with his friends but he made sure he got his mile in this evening with a walk by the river.

Day 14

Thursday 14th Aug
A visit to Isaac Newtons house today with my Life group. OllieRoy has had a fantastic time looking around his house and enjoyed the activities.

Thank you!

Wednesday 13th Aug
A huge thank you to all those that have donated and looked at his page. OllieRoy is absolutely blown away by every single donation to this amazing charity. His face lights up every time I tell him a new donation has been made.

When I first asked OllieRoy if he wanted to take on the challange there was no hesitation, he said yes straight away. OllieRoy has already hit 29 miles on day 13! He's not going to stop at 31 miles, each day hes dedicated to covering 1 mile, any more is a bonus.

Day 13

Wednesday 13th Aug
Another day Another mile covered. After been out most of the day yesterday OllieRoy didn't go far today as its been another super hot day. He's looking forward to tomorrow, doing his mile and getting the stickers on the chart that was posed to him. We did receive it before the challange started (thank you team YLvC) but I forgot to give it to him.

Day 12

Tuesday 12th Aug
A huge 6.60 miles covered today at our local park with the youth club. OllieRoy played football, bucket golf(he really enjoyed this) and water bomb games. It was nice he had 2 friends from his year 6 class there. He also got a dog walk in once it cooled down. Im super proud of OllieRoys dedication to getting his mile in each day and talking to friends about what hes doing.

Day 11

Monday 11th Aug
Fun day at the splash park with friends this afternoon. OllieRoy and his friend went for a run but didn't clock his mile until we walked the dogs. He only just managed to get the mile as his watch battery was at 3% so we had to get home quickly for it to update on his phone.

Day 10

Sunday 10th Aug
1.62 miles done today walking our friends dog. OllieRoy used to be scared of dogs, so it's really nice to see he's now able to walk our friends' dogs with confidence.

Day 9

Saturday 9th Aug
OllieRoy said it was fun doing his mile today on his Nan and grandads exercise bike.

Day 8

Friday 8th Aug
OllieRoy did his walk on his own today. He said hes enjoying the challenge each day.

Day 7

Thursday 7th Aug
2.32 mile walk today in his YL v Cancer tshirt 💛

Day 6

Wednesday 6th Aug
Day 6 and a 5 mile walk whilst out with his Nan, Grandad and little brothers at fantasy island. Hes had a fab day. No photo from today but here's a photo of OllieRoy when he was younger 😍

Day 5

Tuesday 5th Aug
OllieRoy was at his activity club again today but forgot to clock his mile so we had a nice stroll along the river.

Day 4

Monday 4th Aug
1.49 miles today at his summer holiday sports club. He did do more but i said he could only use 1 workout. Treated himself to Donuts on the way home 🍩

Day 3

Sunday 3rd Aug
Set OllieRoy the callange of using his basketball whilst walking a mile to make it a bit more fun.

Day 2.

Saturday 2nd Aug
OllieRoy spent the afternoon at the park with friends but didn't manage to track his mile so we went for a walk round the block, getting his 2nd mile in.

Day one, first (official) mile done :)

Friday 1st Aug
Great walk. OllieRoy chatted the whole way about how much he has enjoyed being at the Theatre summer school this week. They ended the week with a show case for friends and family to watch. Safe to say, he's enjoyed every minute and can't wait to get started again in September.

It says a message is optional so I’ll just say, keep going and get those miles in. You’ll have some new walks when you’re here and a treadmill for if it rains :-)
