I'm taking on the Swim 5k Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer.
I recently saw a friend post about his young daughter Ava who had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Thankfully she is now in remission, but faces ongoing treatment until October 2025. Being the legend that he is, he's raising money for Young Lives vs Cancer to help them out a little and pay something back for their hard work (you can check his fundraiser here : https://fundraise.younglivesvscancer.org.uk/fundraisers/markfuller/swim-5k-may-2024
I've recently been swimming a lot more and thought I would put my paddling to some good use and join in the challenge too. I'm actually going to aim for 10k in a month (what is left of it) so please bear that in mind when considering donating. Try not to imagine my sweaty little head bobbing around in the water, but know that every metre will be worth it. Cancer is an absolute fucker of an illness to deal with, let alone if you're a youngster, so I think it's great that there are charities such as this that are set up to help the sufferers and families.
