And.... He did it!! 12 hours of tennis Straight! NO BREAKS! so so so proud of you Kasitos!

Hmmm... we started the day bright and early! up before day break and at the court before 6:00am.

Kasen was super excited and said to us again! I am definitely going to play for 12 hours non-stop! knowing that this was his first ever Tennis-a-thon... we maintained... success was for us as the Wells family to last the 12 hours on court in turns, playing our friends and family as they come and go through the day. 

BUT!! the hours ticked away... and Kasen maintained his determination to stick to his plan. And played on. The morning was spent mainly with single hitting sessions against friends and coaches.... the afternoon a mix of doubles, singles, a few tennis games with 4 of us on court each time.... and the day drew to a close with the coaches holding an impromptu training session of kinds with a few more tennis games for the team that helped us finish on a high.

All through this Kasen gave his 100% hitting the last shot with just as much passion as he did the first of the day.... Through blisters on his feet and hand, through rashes on his stomach. Kasen did not take a single break outside the norms that apply to a professional tennis match. 

So, the longest break had was 1 to visit the loo (under 5 minutes) and a couple for small bites to eat (under 5 minutes).... we find this unbelievable! We started the day prepared to jump in and hold fort whenever Kasen may need a rest.... and slowly as the day went on! were left simply dumbfounded and super super proud..... 

Kasitos.... you are only 10 years old... and we do not know where your love for tennis may take you.... we are still trying to understand your love for this sport and how we can best support you best... right now we wish you find your way.... to be able to do what you love and find happiness in the same...... We promise to always be there.

But for now!! ahhh... words cannot explain just how proud we are!!

5:30pm - to the end - we were thrilled to have Coach Greg and family join us for the evening 🥳

Nicola, Greg, Fran, Annabelle and gorgeous baby Hill 👶 it meant so much to see you at the event…. Thank you for making the time…. ♥️

5:00pm - to the end…. Here come the Titans 🥳

Simon, Greg and Arjun…… the kids had the best last hour… with champions, rotator and dead rackets…. Thank you, thank you, thank you….. for making time for us…. 🙏♥️ we are lucky to be part of the super, super, super Canterbury Tennis Club 🎾🎾🎾

4:15pm - to the end….. the awesome twosome …. Pollard sisters 👯‍♀️

And Kasen is still full of beans 🤓 Gemma….. thank you for a great pick me up session with all of us….. 2 hours of fun and games 🥳

Every drop makes the ocean…..

In this world of constant taking….. I am trying to teach my son the joy giving back brings…..

Kasen is a 10 year old boy of very few words…. And hides his own emotions under a blanket of awkward silence or if he knows you a little…. With awkward humour.

Kasen cowers away from the limelight and despite being blessed with a musical mind [mum says with immense pride! Kasen is a grade 6 drummer, grade 4 pianist and rather shy singer, grade 3 percussionist and clarinetist (is that a word?! Mrs G his clarinet teacher will soon put me right if not ;)]….. music comes naturally to Kasen. 

But, tennis is his absolute passion. When I mentioned the idea of organising a tennis - a - thon, and that we need to organise tennis play for 12 hours straight…. Kasen exclaimed, why not do it through the night! :) 

And so with the help of the amazing Club and coaches and team players Kasen has grown to love… we are organising a tennis a ton! At Canterbury Tennis Club. 

We are taking on the Tennis-a-thon Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer this summer. Join us in supporting a good cause and your contribution will make a big impact to children and young people with cancer. 

Kasen, his little sister, mum and dad will be on the court playing from 6am to 6pm on the 23rd of August with anyone who wishes to join in…. 

If you would like to come by and join in for 15 minutes or more please reachout to me…. 

And if you have a spare penny or two…. We will accept it greatfully.
