My Updates

Nearly there!!!!!!

Tuesday 27th Aug
Apologies for the lack of updates over the past few days but rest assured we have completed our miles, and then some!! Walking, swimming and horse riding our way around Cyprus, we are now home! 😭 Although we have officially completed all our miles, we are still committing to ‘moving a mile a day’!!

A little explanation as to why we decided to support Young Lives vs Cancer……when I was on maternity leave with a baby Hattie, I was doorstepped by a charity worker representing CLIC Sargent. Being a new mum with emotions and hormones all over the shop, I felt compelled to sign up to support CLIC. CLIC Sargent then became Young Lives vs Cancer and, 8 years on, I really wanted the girls to understand the importance of supporting Charities whilst also making sure they remained active over the summer holidays!! It has been the most valuable lesson of their young lives so far and they have embraced every mile (ok, maybe not EVERY one but definitely most!)

We are 4 miles off finishing the challenge and have been completely humbled by the support and generosity of everyone who has kindly donated! It really has spurred the girls on to complete each mile, every day and we are so incredibly proud of them both. We have achieved every target we have set and re-set but if there is anyone else who would like to donate even just £1 (or £1 for each mile they have left), it would be hugely appreciated by both the girls and this amazing charity who exist to support the brave children and families battling this hateful disease.

Thank you thank you thank you to everybody who has supported the girls. 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Hottest miles ever!!

Thursday 15th Aug
The girls are so driven and committed to getting their miles completed on holiday! We missed a mile on the day we were travelling (Monday) although I have no doubt we covered it at the airport but the girls were keen to catch up!! We visited the Tombs of the Kings yesterday and, despite the 37 degree heat, the girls did brilliantly and completed over 2 miles around the site. They are back on track and feeling more determined than ever to get this challenge completed after all the super generous donations, taking them sooo close to £500!!! We are sooooo proud of them both and forever thankful for everyone’s generosity.

Day 10 - scooting on regardless

Saturday 10th Aug
A difficult day for us all today but the girls have been as amazing as ever and asked for another scoot to the village and back which ended up being 2 miles. This made them happy as they weren’t able to officially measure their mile yesterday so they felt better knowing they’d definitely made up for any possible shortcoming yesterday (there definitely wasn’t any shortcoming!) They amaze me every day. 😍

Substitute mile buddy!

Tuesday 6th Aug
Girls were with my mum and niece today so they took them on a nice walk to complete their mile!!

Dribbling a mile…

Tuesday 6th Aug
After another day at sports club, and a re-found love of football, the girls decided they wanted to dribble a football for a mile!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ They did it, they loved it and that’s another mile towards their overall goal!!

Day 4 - Bike ride with daddy!

Monday 5th Aug

Cheers!!

Saturday 3rd Aug
A well deserved celebratory drink! 🥂

1 mile done - day 3!!

The Cycle/Scoot mile!

Saturday 3rd Aug
Love the commitment from these two!

Weekend fundraising!

Saturday 3rd Aug
Mile 3 done!! The girls are really throwing themselves in to this challenge and I’m making the most of it before I have to bring in the bribes!! 🤣 Today’s choice of transport was a bike for Hattie and Scooter for Edie…anything to make life that little more difficult! Thankfully Daddh was able to join us today so we divided and conquered with a stop off at the pub to celebrate the girls’ 3rd mile!

Quick garden cycle

Friday 2nd Aug
Again, with time lacking, Hattie hopped on her bike and did a quick mile around the garden whilst Edie was getting ready for gymnastics! We forgot to change km to miles but still managed to complete the full mile! So proud of this one’s dedication!

Edie @ football camp

Friday 2nd Aug
Edie worked so hard at football camp today, incorporating her mile into it, that she was awarded a medal for ‘giving it her all’ and ‘trying her very hardest’! Super proud mummy, daddy and big sis!

1st mile done

Thursday 1st Aug
And we’re off…

The garden run!

Thursday 1st Aug
1 mile done around the garden…something is better than nothing!!

First mile done!

Thursday 1st Aug
We’ve had a very busy day today with sports clubs and swimming but we ran around the garden lots of times until we reached a mile! It was super hot and Edie got a stitch but we both remembered that having a stitch is nothing compared to what some people have to go through so Edie was very brave and carried on. We can’t wait to see how we get on for the rest of the month! If you can spare a little donation, we’d be so so so grateful. Thank you!!
