Maria and Jessica are taking on the Kid's Summer Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer.

Maria and Jessica will be taking on the Young Lives vs Cancer Kids Summer Challenge.


1 mile per day for every day in August by cycling, scooting, walking and space hopper-ing! 

If anyone would like to sponsor them for this very worthy cause it would be most appreciated

Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. Make a donation and show your support today. 

  • £15 could go towards a grant to cover travel costs for long journeys to live saving treatment 
  • £26 could pay for an hour with a Young Lives vs Cancer Specialist Social Worker. They help families understand and cope with the emotional, practical and financial effects of cancer. 
  • £70 could pay for a night in a Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home, a free place for families to stay close to specialist hospitals when their child is going through treatment, keeping families together

Day 31 Mile 31

Sunday 31st Aug
They did it! Final mile completed with a puddle jumping mile! Mile 31 - splashed it!

Day 30 Mile 30

Saturday 30th Aug
An excellent mile today with a mix of rock climbing for the girls and a lot of walking to find the perfect party dress for tomorrow! Mile 30 complete, one more to go!

Day 29 Mile 29

Friday 29th Aug
A mile of sea air today for the girls with a trip to Redcar! Nice walk along the seafront, play in the playground and an ice cream for mile 29!

Thursday 28th Aug
After a busy day of Dinosaur show at the theatre and Karate, the girls still managed to squeeze in an evening mile to total up to 28 so far!

Wednesday 27th Aug
Today was very busy day for the girls with another mile covered on their bikes and then a swim in the afternoon!

Tuesday 26th Aug
Another busy day for the girls day clocking up their mile whilst out walking delivering their fruit and also a lot of running around playing hide and seek!

Monday 25th Aug
Maria started today off with a swim then both girls went off to Granny and Grandad's for a mile walk of fruit picking!

Day 24 Mile 24

Sunday 24th Aug
Today's mile had a bit of a different twist with the girls going to AirTrail at Tees Barrage so mile 24 had a huge portion completed at height! A trip to the park afterwards made sure the girls ran, climbed or jumped the rest of mile 24!

Saturday 23rd Aug
Even after 90 minutes of swimming today Jessica took her bike and Maria jog/walked for an evening mile 😃

Friday 22nd Aug
Today was a very scenic mile (likely a few miles) around RSPB Salthome and two rounds in the play area!

Brisk walk for this morning's mile with a hop, skip and jump thrown in too!

Thursday 21st Aug
A morning mile and an evening mile yesterday for mile 20! Weather has been a bit cooler but no stopping Maria and Jessica!

Tuesday 19th Aug
Back on the bikes again this morning for a ride via the playground to pick up mile 19!

Monday 18th Aug
Our fastest mile yet as the rain started but there was no stopping the girls as they cycled on for mile 18!

Back on the bikes for mile 17 today!

Such a busy Saturday I forgot to take a picture! The girls got more than a mile in with running around at their little cousin's 1st Birthday party to pass the halfway mark for the challenge!

A nice evening scoot now that the weather has cooled down completed today's mile!

Thursday 14th Aug
The girls have definitely covered their distance today! A fun and educational trip round the Life Science Centre in Newcastle ensured plenty of mile long steps for Maria and Jessica!

Wednesday 13th Aug
Despite it being super hot today the girls enjoyed a ride to the playground in the sunshine followed by lots of swimming at the swimming pool!

Tuesday 12th Aug
The girls had a fun walk/jog/skip/run and a play at the park for today's mile in the 🌞

Day 11 Mile 11

Monday 11th Aug
An evening scoot/ride for today's mile after a very hot day racing around the garden! Definitely a few space hops contributing to the distance today!

An evening bike/scooter ride to squeeze in today's mile after a busy day!

Saturday 9th Aug
Today's mile was a bike ride to and from cricket, with cricket of course and a quick play in the park too!

Friday 8th Aug
First mile of week 2 was definitely covered over walking, running and climbing their way around Kirkleatham Hall and Bird Sanctuary today! A great time had and a good mile covered!

Thursday 7th Aug
Early morning bike ride for today's mile! That's week one complete and girls are raring to keep on going!

Wednesday 6th Aug
Another mile on the scooters today! A trip to the supermarket with a quick stop for a pose!

Day 5 Mile 5

Tuesday 5th Aug
Today's mile was a walk/run/jog/race to the playground and back with some climbing, sliding and obstacle course-ing whilst there!

Monday 4th Aug
After patiently waiting for the high winds of the storm to calm down the girls took to their scooters to complete today's mile!

The girls walked up and down Northallerton High Street for today's mile at the Jurassic Northallerton event!

Day 2 the girls have cycled to cricket 🏏 and back, with some cricket and the playground in the middle for extra distance!

1st of August and first mile of the challenge complete with a walk along a slightly windy Saltburn beach! 
The girls are raring to go for mile 2 tomorrow on their bikes!
