Run 100 Miles in October 2026

I’m running 100 Miles in October for Young Lives vs Cancer.

I’ll be running 100 Miles in October, from the 1st to the 31st, to help raise vital funds for children and young people with cancer.

Young Lives vs Cancer help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. With practical and emotional support. With someone always there. A social worker that gets it.
With places to stay near hospitals. With campaigning to make health, welfare and social care work better. To champion, to problem solve and bring about change.

Every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. Make a donation and show your support today.

Just a £26 donation could fund an hour of support from a Young Lives vs Cancer specialist social worker, ensuring children, young people and families always have someone by their side throughout their cancer journey.

Thank you for your support.

100 Miles in October – My Road Back to Running 🏃‍♂️❤️

Tuesday 22nd Sep
Running had become a real passion of mine. It wasn't just exercise — it was my morning release, a chance to clear my head, get outside and start the day doing something I loved.
Then, on 13 June 2025, everything changed.
I woke up in agony and could barely walk without a serious limp. I had a prolapsed disc and, despite trying everything I could to recover, it just wouldn't heal.
It happened just two weeks before I was due to run the Ramathon Half Marathon, but missing that race was only the start of it.
I'd had big plans for my running. 2026 was supposed to be the year I stepped things up. I'd already booked the Manchester Marathon, and my longer-term goal was to run an ultra marathon for my 50th birthday in 2027.
Suddenly, instead of thinking about marathons and ultras, I just wanted to be able to run again.
After months of trying to recover, I eventually had back surgery in March 2026.
Since then, my goal has been simple — to get back to doing something I love.
Over the last month I've managed to run 5K several times. They've been slow 5Ks, but right now the time on the clock doesn't matter. Being able to run again does.
So this October I'm setting myself my first proper challenge since surgery:
🏃‍♂️ Run 100 miles in 31 days.
It's going to be a big step up from what I'm currently doing, and I'm still taking my recovery one run at a time.
I'm not doing this for anyone specific. I just thought that if I'm going to push myself and try to get back to something I love, I could use the challenge to do some good at the same time.
That's why I'm raising money for Young Lives vs Cancer, helping support children and young people with cancer and their families.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that one day I'll be able to get back to long-distance running. Whether there's another half marathon, marathon or even that ultra waiting for me in the future, only time will tell.
For now, the target is simple:
31 days. 100 miles.
Hopefully this is the first of many challenges to come. 🤞🏃‍♂️
If you'd like to sponsor me, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every donation, no matter how small, will give me a little extra motivation to get out there and keep ticking off those miles.
Here's to getting back to doing what I love. ❤️
