I'm running 100 miles in October for Young Lives vs Cancer 🤩

Hello! My name is Lucia and if you don’t know me you can definitely follow me on this journey where I will be posting updates  regularly. And why is that? Because I am super excited to say that I will be taking on the Run 100 Miles Challenge 🏃🏽‍♀️for Young Lives vs Cancer! This means I will be running 100 miles in October to support children and young people with cancer 💜

I have been running for 2 years and I have always wanted to raise money for a good cause. I am super proud to say that I will be fundraising for this amazing charity that has helped so many families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. I was able to witness their work whilst I was working in the Children’s Hospital and I know every penny helps.

This is definitely going to be a challenge for me as I have never ran so much consistently, however, I know that this objective will motivate me to make it to the end and most importantly, I will make it to the goal of £300. I would feel so amazing to get any help from anyone, whether that’s £1 or £5. To give some context, this is what we can do with:

  • £26: We could fund an hour of support from a Young Lives vs Cancer specialist social worker ensuring children, young people and families always have someone by their side throughout their cancer journey.
  • £70: We could pay for a night in a Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home, a free place for families to stay close to specialist hospitals when their child is going through treatment, keeping families together

Thank you so much for supporting me and supporting this amazing challenge. Please follow along this month and let’s see we can do together!

2nd run done! Total: 13 miles

Friday 3rd Oct
Wow guys what a thrill it is to say that I’ve done another 9 miles. Never ever in my life I’ve ran more than 7.4 miles and to say that I’ve done 9 feels unreal. This challenge is really pushing me towards my goals and I’m so lucky to have you guys supporting me and sponsoring me as well.

I was only expecting to do 8 miles but I thought why not do 9, why not give more and more!! It was really horrible to run in this weather. I ended up completely soaked, from my socks to my hat 😂. I also found out the windbreaker I wore it’s NOT waterproof 😂😂. But I also thought, oh well, if I can do this completely soaked, what can’t I do when the weather is ideal 😍. Can’t wait to try to do more next week, but for now, I need to give my legs a lil rest. I also loved how much you can see in Birmingham when you run long distances (and do slow paces to actually see stuff). Very very proud of myself and all my friends and family for supporting me and making me feel like I can do anything 🩷

Love you all!!

Ps: listening to Gorillaz whilst running in an empty park is scary as fuck but it was great :)

First run done!! Total:4miles

Thursday 2nd Oct
Hello!! I finally did it. It is the 2nd of October so I started a bit late but I started it :). I do have work later so I could only do 4 miles of the 5 I had planned. I also decided to set my watch to miles but it turns out I have no idea how much 1mile is in km so it’s a challenge in itself. I think I did a decent pace for not having ran in a while but it’s exciting!! Tomorrow is my day off so I’m doing a long runnnnn 💀. See you tomorrow!!

Ps: who would have thought a mitski song would be the perfect pacer song 😂

30th September- 1 Day to go!!

Tuesday 30th Sep
Hello! I have no idea how this works so I am just winging it. I am feeling so excited about the challenge and also very very nervous as I have never ran so far!!! I am also very nervous that I have been trying to get over a cold for the last week and I thought I would be completely fine by today and it turns out I feel worse!!! (I have a sore throat so it's hard to talk and I love talking). I am currently planning how to divide the distance to make sure I can do it and also not get injured. If anyone has any advice I am super happy to listen!! 1 DAY TO GO!!!!!!
