My target 5 mi
I'm taking on the Swim 5k Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer.
In September last year, our eldest daughter, Ava, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) and our world was turned upside down.
Since then, Ava has undergone months of intensive treatment, chemotherapy and long stays in hospital. Thankfully, Ava’s cancer is now in remission, but her treatment will continue until October 2025. Words can't describe how grateful we are to our family and friends, the amazing NHS teams at the Royal Marsden Hospital, St George’s Hospital and King’s College Hospital, and the community nurses from the Evelina, for everything they've done to help Ava.
We've also had incredible support from Young Lives Vs Cancer, a charity that has provided emotional support, advice and resources. From regular phone calls to check in on our wellbeing, to financial advice when one of us had to stop working and information packs for Ava’s teachers when she returned to school, Young Lives Vs Cancer has helped us, and thousands of other families, to navigate the cruel and challenging world of cancer.
To help give something back, I'll be taking part in Young Lives Vs Cancer's 'Swim 5k in May', this month. So, if you've got a few quid down the back of the sofa, please join me in supporting a good cause and your contribution will make a big impact to children and young people with cancer.
