Support my World Cancer Day Dip
I'm taking on a Cold Water Dip Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer this World Cancer Day. Join me in supporting a good cause and your contribution will make a big impact to children and young people with cancer. Whether you donate £5 or £500, every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
Children and young people with cancer are facing a hard winter. Instead of making precious memories with their family, treatment means that they’re facing weeks spent many miles from home.
But cancer doesn’t have to mean families are torn apart. That special moments are lost. You can keep families together this winter.
£26 could pay for an hour of support from a Young Lives vs Cancer social worker, so that children and young people with cancer, and their families, get the right care and support at the right time
£70 could pay for a night in a Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home, a free place for families to stay close to specialist hospitals when their child is going through treatment, keeping families together

COLD WATER DIP CHALLENGE
Monday 12th JanCold dip blog
On 4th February, 3 of us…Martha, Helen and Jo will be stepping into icy water for a charity cold dip in support of Young Lives vs Cancer. It’s going to be cold, uncomfortable and a real challenge… but it’s nothing compared to what so many children and families face every single day.
This charity is very close to all of our hearts, and each of us has our own deep and personal reason for taking part.
For me (Martha), this charity connects not only to my family but also to a child I once taught. Watching a young person face cancer, and seeing the impact it has on parents, siblings and loved ones, has stayed with me and will continue to forever. It’s a reminder that cancer doesn’t just affect one person – it affects entire families and communities. As a teacher I help children begin their journey’s… yet in the battle to cancer I watched a child end their journey and I want to raise as much awareness and support in charities linked closely to this.
A message from Jo;A message from Helen:
Everyone knows someone that has been affected by cancer but for a young person to face this cruel disease is heartbreaking.
Having previously been diagnosed with cancer myself, I understand how tough it is both physically and mentally to push through, but also the impact it has on loved ones who feel utterly helpless. Any donations would be eternally appreciated and go straight to young people hearing the words that you never want to hear.
We are passionate about raising money to help ensure that no family has to face childhood cancer alone. From social workers who help families navigate the system, to emotional support when everything feels too much, this charity makes a real difference at the toughest time in people’s lives.
So on the 4th of February, we’ll take a deep breath, step into the cold, and think of the children, young people and families who we hope to help from this.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who is willing to donate, share, support and encourage us. Your kindness means more than you know, and every penny raised will help support families when they need it most.
