My Updates

The strongest girl I know - My niece Kaitlyn

Wednesday 23rd Oct
On June 22nd 2024 the bottom fell out of my world when I woke to a message from my Mom to tell me my 16 year old first born niece Kaitlyn had been admitted to the royal Stoke cancer centre the previous evening with Leukaemia. I’d only seen her a week before and she had been unwell and pale and had a blood test booked for June 21st at 4pm. Four hours later my sister had the call to bring her in and she didn’t leave.

Our worst fears were confirmed and we were told she had acute myeloid leukaemia which is most common in the over 60s. Writing this now brings me to tears thinking of the fear and uncertainty we all felt back then!

Kaitlyn really is the perfect kid, studied hard, sweet and the most loving and determined and kind niece you could ever ask for so being told what she was about to endure was just earth shattering for everyone.

Until you have held a sister at breaking point and wished to swap places with a child you love like your own it really is impossible to describe.

Fast forward four months we are into round four of chemo and seeing some really positive signs of remission on the horizon which felt simply unimaginable just a few months back.

We still have a way to go and watching our beautiful girl fight like an absolute super hero has been nothing short of magical. Watching her celebrate Prom, her 17th birthday, Halloween (her Mums favourite holiday) and soon Christmas makes us feel so blessed.

We are so lucky to have the most amazing family and support network, however I can’t imagine how hard this would be for those who don’t have this, therefore charities like Young Lives vs Cancer are so important to so many!

I will be doing 1500 (hopefully more) squats in November and ask if you can spare anything to support this charity to help those who really need it going through literally the most unimaginable circumstances please donate what you can and please also get involved if you want to tone your Butt also!

Kaitlyn, Aunty Nic loves you more than you will ever know and would do 1500 squats a day to take this horrible disease from you!

Keep fighting my warrior princess! 💞🧡💞
