Young Lives vs Cancer helps families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day, 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news that they have cancer. Make a donation and show your support today.

Just a £26 donation could fund an hour of support from a Young Lives vs Cancer specialist social worker, ensuring children, young people and families always have someone by their side throughout their cancer journey.

£70 could pay for a night in a Young Lives vs Cancer Home from Home, a free place for families to stay close to specialist hospitals when their child is going through treatment, keeping families together.

Another Four Days in the Bag!

Monday 17th Aug

The last few days have been a bit of everything, but Oliver has kept the challenge going.

Day 13 was another adventure, this time in London with his auntie and uncle. Alongside the usual London sights, he visited the Science Museum, which was a real highlight. Getting home was a different story after their train was cancelled, but it all became part of the adventure!

Day 14 was a little more relaxed. They fitted in a swimming session before making our way home in the evening.

After all the travelling and adventures, Day 15 was about settling back into home life. We took a walk to the park and enjoyed a „quieter day”.

Then came Day 16, and we headed to Scarborough seafront for a lovely 4.5-mile walk. Oliver also managed to squeeze in a scooter ride and some time at the skate park along the way. 🛴

It’s been quite a journey already, from Madeira to London and back home again, and somehow we’ve managed to keep finding ways to get those miles in.

I’m really proud of Oliver. He’s stayed committed to the challenge through holidays, travelling, busy days and everything in between. We’re still going and every mile is helping us raise money for Youth Lives vs Cancer. 💛

Thank you to everyone who has donated or shared our fundraiser so far. It really does mean a lot.

Days 9–12 – The Adventure Continues 💛

Thursday 13th Aug
After coming back from Madeira, Oliver didn’t stop! Day 9 saw him head off on another adventure, staying with his auntie and uncle down south for the week. After a lovely Turkish meal, Oliver managed to fit in his daily 1-mile walk while we set back home. Day 10 brought another adventure, another mile, and a little treat at Gulliver’s Land. 🎢 Day 11 was a well-deserved rest day from the challenge, spent celebrating with some exciting go-karting for the birthday boy. 🏎️ Then on Day 12, Oliver were back to it with a quick 3-mile walk in under an hour, followed by a swimming session. 🚶‍♂️🏊‍♂️ We’re so proud of Oliver for keeping up his determination and commitment. From holidays and family adventures to rest days and birthday fun, he’s showing that every little bit counts. One mile at a time, we’re continuing to raise money for Youth Lives vs Cancer and help support children, young people and families affected by cancer. 💛 Thank you to everyone following, donating and supporting us on this journey!

Days 6, 7 & 8 – Birthdays, Adventures & Our Final Miles 💛

Monday 10th Aug
What an amazing few days we’ve had in Madeira! Our Youth Lives vs Cancer Summer Challenge has continued right through two very special birthdays and our final days on this beautiful island. 🎂 Day 6 – Alex’s 40th Birthday! We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Alex turning 40 than by exploring more of Madeira! We spent the daytime discovering the beautiful east of the island and made the most of every minute. After our birthday meal, we headed out for a little stroll along the sea in the evening, bringing our total for the day to 5.5 miles. 🌊 🎈 Day 7 – Oliver’s 9th Birthday! It was the birthday boy’s turn! Oliver decided exactly how he wanted to spend his special day — chillaxing by the pool! 🏊‍♂️🎂 And who were we to argue? 😂 We had a lovely relaxing day celebrating our amazing boy, but of course, we still managed to squeeze in 2 miles towards our challenge. Even on his birthday, Oliver was determined to keep going and help make a difference. 💛 🌅 Day 8 – Our Last Day in Madeira And just like that, it was our final day in Madeira. Before heading home, we took one last walk into the centre of Funchal to pick up some last-minute souvenirs and, of course, enjoy some ice cream! 🍦 Our final outing took us around 5 miles, giving us one last chance to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and make some final family memories before leaving this incredible island. Looking back over these days, we’re so proud of what we’ve achieved. What started as a simple 1-mile-a-day challenge has turned into so much more — miles of walking, swimming, hiking, exploring, plenty of laughs, tired legs, amazing memories and, most importantly, a chance to raise money for Youth Lives vs Cancer. 💛 Oliver has been absolutely amazing throughout this challenge. At just 9 years old, he’s shown so much determination and compassion, and we’re incredibly proud of him for wanting to help other children and young people affected by cancer. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our fundraiser, followed our journey and encouraged us along the way. Every donation and every share means so much to our family. Our Madeira adventure may be over, but our challenge continues! 💛

Days 4 & 5 – Adventure, Courage and Every Step for a Cause 💛

Thursday 6th Aug

Our Youth Lives vs Cancer Summer Challenge continued with two more unforgettable days in Madeira.

Day 4 was a slightly slower-paced day, giving us the chance to enjoy everything our hotel had to offer. We spent hours swimming in the pool, making the most of the sunshine and having lots of fun together. To end the day, we took a long swim in the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. It was the perfect way to relax and recharge before more adventures ahead.

Day 5 was packed with excitement as we explored the stunning west of Madeira. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and we loved discovering more of this beautiful island together. We walked around 4 miles, taking in the incredible views, before setting off on a 1.5-mile hike to one of Madeira’s spectacular viewpoints. The climb was definitely worth it!

One of the highlights of the day was watching Oliver show just how brave he is by doing some cliff jumping into the crystal-clear sea. I was so proud of him for stepping out of his comfort zone and embracing the adventure with such confidence.

Although we’re on holiday, we haven’t forgotten why we’re taking on this challenge. Every walk, every hike, and every mile is helping us raise money and awareness.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us so far. Whether you’ve donated, shared our fundraiser, or simply followed our journey, thank you. Your encouragement means so much to us, and it’s helping to keep us motivated every step of the way.

Our adventure isn’t over yet, and we can’t wait to see what the next few days bring. Together, we’re making memories while making a difference—and that’s what this challenge is all about. 💛

Days 2 & 3 – Making Memories While Making a Difference 💛

Monday 3rd Aug

Our Youth Lives vs Cancer Summer Challenge continued as we arrived in beautiful Madeira for our family holiday. Although we were excited to relax, we were determined not to let being away stop us from completing our challenge.

Day 2 was all about settling in after a long journey. We spent a few hours enjoying the swimming pool before heading out to explore our new surroundings. What we thought would be a gentle walk before tea soon turned into a 3.3-mile adventure! It was the perfect way to discover the area while remembering that every step we take is helping children, young people, and families affected by cancer.

Day 3 was our biggest challenge yet! After breakfast, we headed out for a day of exploring and didn’t return until it was time for tea. We walked through beautiful streets, admired stunning scenery, and enjoyed spending quality time together. By the end of the day, we’d covered nearly 10 miles—far more than we expected!

Watching Oliver’s enthusiasm throughout this challenge has made me incredibly proud. Seeing his determination and knowing that he’s doing this to help other children is so special. Together, we’re proving that even while on holiday, we can make time to support an amazing cause.

We’re so grateful to everyone who has donated, shared our fundraiser, or sent us words of encouragement. Your support keeps us motivated every step of the way.

Our adventure continues, and we’re looking forward to seeing where the next few days take us. Thank you for following our journey and helping us make a difference—one mile at a time. 💛

💛 Small Feet, Big Hearts – Day 1 Complete!

Saturday 1st Aug
🌞 Day 1 Complete! 💛 Today was the first day of our Youth Lives vs Cancer Summer Challenge, and what a lovely start it was! Oliver was so excited that the first thing he asked when he woke up this morning was, “When are we going for our walk to help people with cancer?” ❤️ It made me so proud to see how much he wants to help others. Even though we’re away on holiday, we didn’t let that stop us. We set out to complete our 1-mile challenge, but we were enjoying ourselves so much—with plenty of walking and scooter riding—that we ended up doing 2 miles! 🚶‍♀️🛴 Every step we take is to help support children, young people, and families affected by cancer through Youth Lives vs Cancer. If you’d like to support us, we’d be so grateful. Every donation, no matter how small, helps make a difference. Thank you to everyone who has already donated and cheered us on. Here’s to many more miles together! 💛 #YouthLivesVsCancer #SummerChallenge #Day1 #MakingADifference #EveryStepCounts

Every Step Counts 💛

Friday 31st Jul

This summer, my 9-year-old son and I have signed up for the Youth Lives vs Cancer Summer Challenge, and we’re so excited to take part together.

As a mum, I can’t imagine the heartbreak of seeing your child go through cancer. No family should have to face that journey alone. That’s why we’re taking on this challenge—to help raise money for Youth Lives vs Cancer, so they can continue supporting children, young people, and their families when they need it most.

For my son, this is a chance to do something kind, challenge himself, and learn that even small actions can make a big difference. We’re looking forward to completing the challenge together while raising awareness for an amazing cause.

If you’re able to support us, we’d be so grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, will help make a real difference to families facing incredibly difficult times. And if you can’t donate, sharing our fundraiser would mean the world to us.

Thank you for cheering us on and helping us support such a wonderful charity. Together, we can make a difference—one step, one challenge, and one donation at a time. 💛
