Want to join us in supporting a good cause?

We're taking on the Kids' Summer Challenge for Young Lives vs Cancer, and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.

Young Lives vs Cancer helps families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day, 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news that they have cancer. Make a donation and show your support today.

Just a £26 donation could fund an hour of support from a Young Lives vs Cancer specialist social worker, ensuring children, young people and families always have someone by their side throughout their cancer journey.

£70 could pay for a night in a Young Lives vs Cancer Home from Home, a free place for families to stay close to specialist hospitals when their child is going through treatment, keeping families together.

Why did we sign up to this challenge?

Saturday 15th Aug
With the long summer stretch ahead, we wanted to find something meaningful for Chloe and Sophie to get involved in, something that kept us active as a family, but more importantly, helped us look beyond our own daily routine. That’s how we found ourselves signing up for the Young Lives vs Cancer 1 Mile a Day Walking Challenge. As we write this, we are officially halfway through the month, and it feels like the perfect moment to reflect on why we started.

Every single day, young people and families face the life-altering reality of a cancer diagnosis. In the hustle of everyday family life, it is far too easy to take the simple things for granted: waking up healthy, having boundless energy, and simply being able to lace up a pair of trainers and head out the door. Taking on this daily mile is our small way of keeping that perspective front and center. We wanted the girls to realise just how fortunate they are to have their health, and to truly understand that being in a position to help others is a privilege.

Of course, the reality of committing to a daily goal hasn't always been smooth sailing... especially when trying to carve out time while we were away on holiday, or busy work days or even lazy afternoons! The girls have always tackled the challenge in completely different ways. Chloe could happily walk for miles without stopping. Sophie, on the other hand, isn't the biggest fan of walking and sometimes uses her trusty scooter to get her over the finish line. The great thing about the challenge is that it's all about moving a mile a day however you like, whether you walk, scoot, ride a bike, swim, or run! Today, they were up and out early with Dad to complete a lap of our local parkrun to get their distance in! So whether Sophie is on two wheels or two feet, and no matter how tricky the schedule gets, we make sure to get it done together as a family. Every single step (and every scoot!) is a daily reminder of our gratitude.

The most incredible part of this journey so far is that, even though we are only at the halfway mark, we have absolutely smashed our initial £100 target thanks to your kindness! We have raised over £400 so far, and we have decided to set a new stretch goal of £500 for the second half of the challenge. Watching the donations come in has been a massive boost for Chloe and Sophie, proving to them that their daily efforts are making a real, tangible difference for children and families who need it most. We are heading into the final stretch with ready and raring to go!

Thank you so much to everyone who has backed Chloe and Sophie so far, every donation means the world to us and to Young Lives vs Cancer!
