My Updates

From personal experience to community support

Thursday 25th Jul
Hello everyone,

I have created this page to support young cancer patients and raise awareness about cancer. Through tennis, I hope to bring smiles to those facing difficult times, as well as their families and friends.

Background
To be honest, I used to think of cancer as an issue that had nothing to do with me. However, when my mother in Japan was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, my perception changed completely. While providing emotional support to my mother, I gained a deeper understanding of breast cancer. And I realised that cancer affects not only the patient but also their entire family. The term "second patient" highlights that cancer is a family-wide issue.

Seeing my adult mother’s distress after her diagnosis made me realise that the anguish young people face when battling cancer is unimaginable. And I believe their families suffer alongside them. Knowing this, I felt compelled to do something to help.

Recently, I saw that Ryan Peniston, ambassador for Young Lives vs Cancer, launched a tennis marathon this summer to raise funds for young cancer patients. Inspired by this, I decided to participate in the campaign through my passion for tennis.

My Mission
- Raise awareness about cancer
- Provide support to young patients and their families through donations

My Tennis Goal
I aim to play 20 hours of tennis, including matches and practice, by the end of August.

Support Request
Currently, about 2,300 young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer each year. Their long-term survival often depends on the support they receive.

There are a lot of ways you can help. You can make a donation, share this link to raise awareness, or simply educate yourself about cancer. By doing so, you’ll be better prepared to support a loved one if they are diagnosed with cancer.

I believe that increasing the number of people with this knowledge will provide comfort to all cancer patients.

Your warm support and cooperation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
